These toys violate mandatory federal safety standards because the water beads can expand significantly when in contact with liquid. If a child swallows a bead, it can cause choking, intestinal obstruction, and severe discomfort, posing a potential risk of death. No injuries have been reported for these specific recalls yet. Consumers are instructed to stop using the affected toys immediately. To receive a full refund, owners should write "RECALLED" on the toy and its packaging with a permanent marker, dispose of the product, and email a photo of the disposed item to the respective company. Additionally, the commission issued a warning regarding Squishy Bun Toys from Ivyapingdianpu, which also contain water beads but have not been officially recalled by the retailer.
