Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presents Second Report on Government in Nuevo León
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presented her Second Report on Government in Nuevo León, where she detailed progress made during the first 24 months of the federal administration. During the event, she announced that a modern passenger rail service connecting Mexico City with Monterrey and Nuevo Laredo will be completed before the end of her term. She defended the recovery of passenger trains as a means of development for connected communities. Sheinbaum Pardo also highlighted several other infrastructure projects, including the Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo and Queretaro-San Luis Potosi-Saltillo projects. She further discussed the bilateral relationship with the United States, stating that Mexico seeks a cooperative relationship with Washington without accepting conditions of subordination. This was noted in the context of new statements by Donald Trump that have strained the bilateral discourse. The presentation took place in Monterrey, where hundreds of attendees wearing Morena party colors gathered to listen to the president. Governor Samuel García received Sheinbaum Pardo at the Government Palace before the event. While the president was in the region, federal authorities also located and disqualified three clandestine methamphetamine laboratories in Guerrero.
