President D. Todd Christofferson, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, rededicated the San Diego California Temple on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The iconic structure, which first opened in 1993, underwent extensive renovations starting in 2023 to address aging systems and heat-damaged art glass windows. During the rededication, President D. Todd Christofferson emphasized that the temple serves as a tangible testimony of the living reality of Jesus Christ. He noted that the building is a means to an end, focusing on the spiritual fortitude and faith of the members. The rededication followed a public open house that attracted nearly 300,000 visitors, providing a unique opportunity for the community to experience the temple's architecture and peaceful atmosphere. The temple, located in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego, is a landmark known for its unique design featuring 10 spires and a statue of the angel Moroni. It will now resume its role as a sacred house of the Lord for worship and ordinances.
