President Abelardo de la Espriella announced four significant operations against organized crime and narcotics trafficking across Colombia. The administration announced that the National Army and Police successfully neutralized several criminal groups, including the Gulf Clan and La Terraza. In Salgar, Antioquia, two members of the Gulf Clan were killed and two others were captured, with firearms and military equipment confiscated. In El Peñol and Medellín, 11 members of the suspected La Terraza group were captured for crimes including narcotics trafficking and illegal possession of firearms. Additionally, the administration announced the rescue of two kidnapped citizens in Barranquilla for a $500 million cost. In the Cauca Valley, 2.1 tons of marijuana were seized, and an ELN cocaine laboratory was destroyed in Mercaderes, yielding 1,836 kilograms of drugs. Furthermore, the administration announced the confiscation of 1,360 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 30 kilograms of TCH from a fast boat in a multinational operation with the United States and Dominican Republic. President Abelardo de la Espriella emphasized that the State will no longer yield to delinquency or narcotics terrorism.
