Prime Line Distributors, Inc. and Ferrarini USA, Inc. Recall 1,513 Pounds of Imported Pork Products Due to Listeria Concerns

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced a Class I recall of 1,513 pounds of imported ready-to-eat pork jowl products, also known as guanciale. The recall was issued because the products may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. Prime Line Distributors, Inc. and Ferrarini USA, Inc. are the two companies issuing the recall. The products were produced at Est. 1937L Bome SRL in Italy on May 21 and imported into the U.S. in July. The contamination was discovered during routine import reinspection testing when a product sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled items include various weight cardboard cases and individually vacuum-packed products from both companies. All affected products bear a best if used by date of May 16, 2027, and a lot number of 263311US. Consumers can identify the products by the establishment number "IT 1937 L CE" printed on the case label or inside the Italian mark of inspection. No confirmed reports of illness have been made. The Food Safety and Inspection Service urged food service and retail locations not to serve or sell the products, advising consumers to discard or return the items to the place of purchase.
