Prince Hisahito is currently a sophomore majoring in biology at the University of Tsukuba. While focusing on his studies, he has begun taking on official duties, including attending a palace banquet for Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and joining a teenagers’ camp in Hiroshima. The attention on Prince Hisahito has increased following the government's revision of the Imperial House Law. The new law reinforces male-only succession rules and lifts a ban on the adoption of male offspring from distant former royal families. While female royals can now keep their status after marrying a commoner, their future offspring will not be royal. Prince Hisahito expressed that his main focus is currently on his studies and he hopes to spend time overseas to gain new perspectives. Regarding marriage, he stated he has not yet determined an ideal timing or a partner.
