President Abelardo de la Espriella hands over the body of Nañ Andrés Pérez Toncel to his family

President Abelardo de la Espriella presented the body of Nañ Andrés Pérez Toncel, known as alias Bendito Menor, to the media following a police operation in Riohacha. Pérez Toncel, the leader of the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada, was killed alongside his romantic partner, Rosa Angélica Tarazona, and two bodyguards during the operation on September 4, 2026. Forensic experts from the National Institute of Medicine Legal and Forensic Sciences in Barranquilla examined the bodies to confirm their identities. Following the official confirmation, the families of the deceased were able to initiate the claims procedures. The Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada expressed their condolences and stated that there would be no retaliation for the police action. The organization requested that the population of the Caribe coast maintain calm and requested that any future peace process occur through established institutional channels. Rosa Angélica Tarazona, who served as a key figure in the criminal structure, was involved in a judicial negotiation prior to her death. She was responsible for logistics, resource management, and recruiting young people for the organization.
