Mexican musician Jonathan Meléndez and three others were killed in a residential complex murder in Atizapán de Zaragoza.
Mexican musician Jonathan Meléndez, a keyboardist and composer for the band Camilo Séptimo, was killed along with his pregnant wife, his three-year-old daughter, and a housekeeper in a residential complex in Atizapán de Zaragoza. The victims were found tied up with adhesive tape and suffered gunshot wounds. A six-year-old son of the couple was found alive and uninjured at the scene. Authorities from the State of Mexico, Mexico City, and the federal government conducted a joint operation to detain two suspects, Diego Sebastián "N" and Gerardo "N". One of the detainees was a business partner of Meléndez who reportedly used their relationship of trust to gain access to the home. The crime occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the Zona Esmeralda area. Neighbors reported hearing screams and gunfire before the bodies were were discovered. The two suspects have been placed at the disposal of judicial authorities for further investigation.
