Israeli Settlers Siege Palestinian Village of Qusra, Leading to First Arrest in Recent Violent Attacks

Israeli settlers besieged the Palestinian village of Qusra in the occupied West Bank, seizing a home while its owner, Louay Adli, was inside. During the attack, dozens of rioters surrounded the home and threw stones at the Adli family, who were forced to the roof to escape the heat and stones. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by using tear gas and declaring the area a closed military zone. While the military initially watched the scene, the Israel Police announced a 19-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the attacks. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the violence, describing it as a harming to Israel's standing in the world, though he noted the rioters were a small handful of young people. The village has faced repeated attacks from settlers who have defied orders to leave. In response to the escalating tensions, the IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, ordered an elevated level of readiness. The incident has also drawn attention from the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who described the settler actions as a horrific act of terror.
