Heavy rains and hail caused flooding and traffic disruptions across the Valley of Mexico and the State of Mexico.

Intense precipitation and hail occurred late on Saturday, September 5th, across the Valley of Mexico and the State of Mexico. The storm caused significant flooding, reduced visibility, and traffic complications on major roads, including the Mexico-Pachuca highway and the Texcoco road. In the State of Mexico, the municipality of Ecatepec was among the most affected areas. Hail covered streets and vehicles in colonies such as San Agustín and La Florida, while large amounts of ice accumulated near Plaza Aragón. The storm also caused delays in public transportation services like Mexibus and Mexicable. Authorities in Mexico City maintained an Amber Alert for 16 municipalities due to the possibility of strong rains, hail, and wind gusts. In the capital city, strong rains were reported in Tláhuac and Xochimilco, with moderate precipitation in Iztapalapa. The National Meteorological Service predicts that precipitation will continue into the night of Saturday and the first hours of Sunday. Residents are advised to take extreme precautions and avoid crossing flooded streets.
