Armed civilians and security forces clashed in Michoacán, resulting in five civilian deaths and more than seven active roadblocks across the state. The Secretariat of National Defense reported that the narcotics blockade was caused by a conflict between security elements and armed civilians, primarily affecting the Zamora region. Motorists reported burned vehicles and units blocking traffic on the main roads, including the Zamora-La Piedad highway and the Ecuandureo municipality. Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla has yet to provide as official statement, but an operational force has been deployed to address the emergency. The disturbances follow a previous blockade in August caused by the capture of Alfonso Fernández Magallón, a narcotics trafficker who had a warrant for his arrest. The Government of Pénjamo has reinforced security and surveillance measures on main roads to manage the traffic flow and address the security situation.
