Claudia Arlett Espino resigns as Executive Secretary of the National Electoral Institute due to health reasons

Claudia Arlett Espino submitted an irrevocable resignation as the Executive Secretary of the National Electoral Institute (INE), effective immediately. The resignation, presented to President Councilor Guadalupe Taddei, comes one day before the formal start of the 2026-2027 federal election process. In her resignation letter, Claudia Arlett Espino cited health reasons and the high level of demand required to organize the concurrent elections for federal and 32 state entities. She noted that the workload does not allow her to maintain a healthy balance between her professional responsibilities and her personal and family ties. Following the resignation, the administration announced that Roberto Carlos Felix Lopez will serve as the acting head of the Executive Secretariat. Felix Lopez was a preferred candidate of Guadalupe Taddei, who had previously attempted to appoint him to the position in December 2023 but failed to reach a consensus among the council members. Claudia Arlett Espino expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the Secretary-General and stated her willingness to collaborate during the transition to ensure the operation of the Secretariat-General continues without disruption.
