The mother and daughter, who were initially reported missing in Vienna, Austria, on August 7, had voluntarily decided to leave their lives behind to seek a fresh start. Authorities were initially concerned that the pair had fallen victim to a terrorist attack or abduction. However, investigation revealed that the women had planned their escape for about a month. They used AI chatbots to determine how to purchase an unidentifiable mobile device in the Czech Republic and how to delete specific apps to prevent location tracking. They even sent a video from Vienna to create the false impression that they were still there before moving on to Germany and eventually Argentina. Israel Police representative Walter Alejandro Kogan approached them on an intercity bus. While the women were not under suspicion of a crime, they were released after being questioned. Their families have announced they will return the crowdfunding money raised during the search.
