Tren Maya train car suffers track failure near San Francisco de Campeche station with no passengers injured
The Tren Maya administration reported a track failure in the last carriage of a train traveling the Cancún-Palenque route. The incident occurred around 15:30 hours on Monday, approximately 50 meters after the train departed from the San Francisco de Campeche station. The driver stopped the unit according to established technical procedures, and no injuries were reported among the 123 passengers. Tren Maya personnel provided hydration and food to the passengers during the incident. From 16:00 hours, passengers were evacuated and transferred by land to the Edzná station to continue their journey on board another train. The Commission for Determining Railway Accidents has been integrated to perform a technical investigation into the cause of the incident. While other services continue to operate normally, the administration warned that technical maneuvers may result in schedule or itinerary adjustments. The Tren Maya administration expressed regret for the inconveniences caused and reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety.
