The Colombian Geological Service recorded a 3.6-magnitude earthquake on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in the border region between Colombia and Venezuela. The tremor occurred at 10:55 am local time and was located 34 kilometers from the municipality of Albania in La Guajira. The seismic event was characterized by a shallow depth of less than 30 kilometers. The Colombian Geological Service also reported seismic activity in several other regions of Colombia, including Santander, Antioquia, Choc贸, La Guajira, Cundinamarca, Meta, and Huila. Additionally, the Colombian Geological Service reported two new earthquakes in the municipality of Totor贸, Cauca. These tremors, with magnitudes of 2.7 and 4.1, occurred in the area of influence of the Purac茅 volcano. While the movements were felt in Sotar谩 and Popay谩n, the Colombian Geological Service stated that no direct relationship has been established between these events and the activity of the Purac茅 volcano, attributing the buildings' movements to geological faults in the territory.
