José Manuel Larumbe Pineda oversees rescue operations in Los Cabos as heavy rains flood local streams

José Manuel Larumbe Pineda, the acting mayor of Los Cabos, coordinated rescue operations following heavy rains in the southern part of Baja California Sur. Authorities reported that nine people were rescued from the Eureka stream, while four vehicles were removed from the El Salto Seco creek in the Ocho Cascadas zone. During a State Civil Protection Council meetings, José Manuel Larumbe Pineda noted that the flooding occurred due to night and early morning rains. He urged the population to avoid crossing streams and bridges, even when water levels appear low, as conditions can change quickly. To prepare for further precipitation, the administration activated four temporary shelters in Los Cabos and four in La Paz. Officials also reported that maritime ports and airports remain open and operating normally. In the agricultural sector, José Alfredo Bermúdez Beltrán stated that the precipitation provides a benefit after two years of drought, estimating that hay will be available until June 2027.
