Claire McDonough to resign as Rivian CFO to join GE Vernova

Claire McDonough will step down as the chief financial officer of Rivian at the end of October. The administration announced that she is leaving to pursue a new opportunity and relocate to the East Coast to be closer to her family. McDonough joined Rivian in January 2021, playing a key role in the company's initial public offering and its technology joint venture with Volkswagen Group. She has been hired as the incoming chief financial officer for GE Vernova, where she will transition fully into the role on January 1, 2027. While Rivian is currently scaling production for its R2 SUV, the company is searching for a permanent replacement for McDonough. Vice president of finance Derek Mulvey will serve as interim CFO during the transition. The news of her departure has led to a decline in Rivian's stock price, as investors react to the leadership change during a critical production ramp.
