Also Co-Founder Chris Yu Secures $150 Million Series D Funding to Expand Autonomous Delivery Vehicle Platform
The Palo Alto-based startup Also has raised $150 million in a Series D funding round led by Prysm Capital, with participation from Eclipse, Greenoaks, and MVP Ventures. The new capital is earmarked to accelerate the development of the company's autonomous driving technology and multiple autonomous form factors, moving beyond its current lineup of pedal-assist electric bikes and commercial cargo quads. Chris Yu, the company's co-founder, stated that the startup is a technology platform for vehicles smaller than a car, aiming to provide economical and low-impact transportation for dense metro and suburban environments. While the company's most visible product is a $3,500 e-bike, the startup's technology is designed to be integrated into various small-vehicle formats. Also spun out of Rivian in early 2025 as a skunkworks project. The company maintains a commercial partnership with DoorDash and supplies a quadricycle to Amazon. The new funding pushes the startup's valuation past $1 billion, positioning it to scale production of existing electric vehicles while laying the groundwork for future autonomous delivery solutions.
