The Jefferson County Department of Health reported that temperature control issues were the most common violation among food establishments that failed to meet satisfactory compliance standards during inspections from August 5 to August 13. P.F. Chang’s China Bistro at The Summit in Birmingham received the lowest score of 64, with inspectors noting a lack of chemical sanitizer in the bar dish machine, a dead fly in the sugar and vinegar mix, and multiple food items out of temperature in the make table cooler. The establishment was also cited for dumping mop water into a storm drain due to a clogged mop sink. Other notable violations included food stored past seven days at Ferus Artisan Ales in Trussville, residential insecticide stored next to vegetables at Hotspot on Bessemer Road, and an employee garnishing a drink without gloves at Lapeer Steak & Seafood. Establishments scoring below 85 are required to be re-inspected within 60 days.
