Feminist activist and poet Robin Morgan dies at age 85

Robin Morgan, a prominent second-wave feminist, poet, and essayist, died at age 85 on September 5, 2026. Her death occurred just days after the passing of her close friend and fellow activist Gloria Steinem. Morgan was a central figure in the women's movement, known for coining the term "herstory" and editing essential texts such as "Sisterhood Is Powerful." She was also a long-time contributor and former editor-in-chief of Ms. magazine. Early in her life, Morgan was a child star in the 1940s and 1950s, appearing in the television series "Mama." Despite her early fame, she transitioned into a radical activist and artist. She co-founded the Women's Media Center in 2005 with Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem to increase the visibility of women in media. Throughout her career, she published more than 20 books and remained active in activism until her death, despite a Parkinson's disease diagnosis 16 years ago.
