The World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing are showcasing China's significant progress in robotics technology as the nation competes in a global tech race with the United States. More than 2,000 humanoid robots are participating in various events, including 1500m runs, soccer matches, and free combat competitions. While many robots are moving beyond flashy demonstrations like dancing and kickboxing to real-world applications, such as sorting parcels and loading production lines. Start-up X Square Robot has demonstrated the efficiency of its two-armed WALL-B model, which sorted 1,816 packages in an hour, outperforming the bipedal Figure 03 robot from the U.S. start-up Figure AI. Additionally, companies like AI2 Robotics are showcasing practical utility through wheeled robots that can perform tasks like making coffee and ice cream. These developments highlight a shift toward functional, real-world deployment in the robotics industry.
