Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Conducts Food Safety Inspections Across Multiple Counties
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture conducted retail food safety inspections across several counties, including Lehigh, Northampton, Monroe, Wayne, and Pocono. The inspections, which took place between August 17 and August 26, served as a snapshot of the cleanliness and safety standards of local food establishments. In Lehigh County, Taqueria El Jalapeno was found out of compliance with state regulations, featuring high priority violations such as improper temperature control and stored insecticide. The Department of Agriculture noted that many violations are often corrected by inspectors on-site before they leave. Northampton County inspections showed that no restaurants were found to be out of compliance, though several establishments had minor violations. In Wayne County, the Honesdale Golf Club was found to have held meats between 47 and 52 degrees, which were voluntarily disposed of. The Department of Agriculture produces these reports using the FDA Model Food Code to categorize violations by priority levels, ranging from high to low.
