Live Nation must repair Rogers Stadium after severe thunderstorm causes significant damage to seating area

Live Nation Canada has been ordered by the City of Toronto to repair Rogers Stadium following a severe thunderstorm on Wednesday evening. The storm caused significant damage to the venue, including partially collapsed grandstands and displaced seating. City inspectors noted that parts of the north side of the stadium structure collapsed, leaving the venue in a condition that may pose a risk to health or safety. Live Nation reported that no one was injured during the weather event. To host the rock band AC/DC on September 16, Live Nation must follow a seven-part order from the city. This includes retaining an engineer to assess the damage and sharing findings by September 8. Live Nation must then complete the and update the city by September 11. Reconstruction work will require a building permit. Live Nation stated that the storm was a '100-year storm' and that the inspection and remediation of structures affected by such events is a standard process. The stadium has faced several issues since opening last summer, including previous complaints regarding crowd management and noise.
