Agricultural Minister Taras Vysotskyi stated that Russian strikes have destroyed 90% of modern storage facilities for various types of goods in Ukraine. These attacks on logistics infrastructure are intended to disrupt Ukrainian businesses by targeting warehouses and logistics centers. While some stores have seen limited supplies of everyday staples like meat and dairy, officials stated there is no immediate threat of hunger for the population. To manage the destruction, businesses are finding alternative ways to move goods, such as delivering directly to production or retail sites to bypass long-term storage. Some businesses are relocating to other areas, though Russian attacks have reached some of these new facilities. The destruction of warehouses has also impacted retail footfall. Consulting company Retail & Development Advisor CEO Andrii Lototskyi noted a significant drop in visitor numbers at shopping centers. Since the start of the war, 38 shopping centers with a total area of 1.4 million square meters have been damaged or destroyed. The VARUS warehouse in the Kyiv region was recently hit by a Russian attack, causing significant damage to goods and potentially delaying deliveries, though all stores remain open.
