Volodymyr Zelenskyy Condemns Russian Drone Strike on Shopping Mall in His Hometown

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has labeled a recent Russian drone strike on a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih as a "cynical and despicable" attack. The strike, which occurred in the Ukrainian president's hometown, resulted in at least 16 people killed and 130 injured, including 23 children. The attack was described as a "double-tap" strike, where a second drone hit the building after emergency responders had already begun to arrive. The administration announced that the strike was an absolute Russian atrocity and vowed to respond with real pressure on the aggressor. While the attack was devastating, the administration also noted that Ukraine has intensified its campaign of drone strikes on Russian economic infrastructure, such as oil refineries and warehouses. In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Kyiv opened a "Pandora's box" by targeting Russian economic sectors, and he warned that Russia would hit back at Ukraine's most sensitive economic targets. Local authorities are currently investigating the negligence of the supermarket director in the mall, who allegedly remained open during the air raid alert.
