Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports two civilians killed in Russian drone strike on Ukraine-Moldova border crossing
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian drones struck the Starokozache–Tudora border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova, resulting in two civilian deaths and three injuries. The attack damaged infrastructure, vehicles, and buildings, causing a major fire and forcing the closure of the crossing. Moldovan authorities condemned the strike, with Prime Minister Vasile Tofan noting that Russia bears sole responsibility for the war. The Moldovan Foreign Ministry dismissed Russian claims that the checkpoint was targeted for military logistics, stating that weapons are not transported into Ukraine through Moldovan territory. Simultaneously, Ukraine targeted the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported that four people, including a child, were allegedly killed by Ukrainian drones in the attack. The strikes occurred a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with President Trump by phone. The administration has been pressing for direct talks between Russia and Ukraine, which could potentially occur this month.
