Pavlo Kovtoniuk, head of Energoatom, reported that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost its external power supply for the fifteenth time since the beginning of 2026. Backup diesel generators automatically activated to maintain the operation of critical safety systems during the outage. This marks the 27th blackout since the plant began to be occupied by Russian forces. Energoatom noted that frequent losses of external power lead to increased equipment wear and higher risks to nuclear and radiation safety. The administration of the plant's operation under Russian management has contributed to the instability of the situation. Energoatom stated that the only guarantee for the safe operation of the plant is its de-occupation and return to full control under the sole legitimate operator, JSC NNEGC Energoatom.
