Hakan Fidan Announces Makkah Defence Alliance and Criticizes Benjamin Netanyahu

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the establishment of the Makkah Defence Alliance, a joint defense pact between Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. During the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee in Istanbul, Fidan stated that the alliance is based on principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. The pact empowers member states to treat an attack against one of them as an attack against all of them. Fidan also used the press conference to criticize Benjamin Netanyahu, describing him as a "murderer" and a perpetrator of "genocide." He urged the international community to take practical steps against the Netanyahu threat. In response, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accused Fidan of spreading "lies and blood libels" against Israel. The administration announced that a secretariat for the alliance will be established in Riyadh, with the first secretary general appointed from Pakistan for a three-term period. The three countries agreed to work on institutionalizing cooperation through joint technology development and defense industry collaboration.
