National Meteorological Service Predicts Unstable Weather Conditions and Intense Heat Across Mexico This Weekend

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a forecast predicting unstable weather conditions across Mexico for the upcoming weekend. The SMN anticipates strong to very strong rains, electrical activity, and possible hail in various regions, driven by the Mexican monsoon, low-pressure canals, and Tropical Wave Number 33. Heavy rainfall is expected in 13 states, including Sonora and Sinaloa, where precipitation may reach 50 to 75 millimeters. These rains could lead to flooding, landslides, and increased river levels. Simultaneously, a heat wave will persist in northern regions, with temperatures in Baja California and Sonora potentially exceeding 45 degrees Celsius. Authorities warn that wind gusts of 40 to 70 km/h could cause trees and billboards to fall. Coastal areas in Baja California Sur, Jalisco, and Oaxaca will also see waves of up to 3 meters. The SMN advises the public to stay alert for meteorological updates and follow local instructions during the intense weather shifts.
