Mayor Jorge Eduardo Rojas coordinates census and aid for 2,000 earthquake victims in Manizales

The Manizales Municipal Government has initiated a census to identify over 2,000 residents left without shelter following a 7.4-magnitude earthquake. Mayor Jorge Eduardo Rojas stated that the census is essential for residents to access local and national aid, including potential rental subsidies of 300 million pesos for three months. Authorities have established four registration sites in Milan, Cyprus, the avenue Santander, and the center to systematically record the socio-economic status of affected families. While emergency evacuations were prioritized for immediate safety, the census now allows for organized distribution of resources. The municipal administration also announced that initial donations of food and toiletries have been exhausted, calling for a new round of solidarity from citizens. Currently, 300 of the victims have already accessed a shelter located in the Coliseum, with more potential shelters being activated in the coming days.
