The National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecasts heavy to intense rainfall across all 32 states of Mexico this Saturday, September 5th. The precipitation is driven by a combination of the Mexican monsoon, tropical wave 36, and the circulation of Hurricane Marie, which is moving northwards away from the coast. Significant rainfall accumulations are expected in Sinaloa, Veracruz, and Oaxaca, with values ranging from 75 to 150 millimeters. Other regions, including the Sierra Madre Occidental, will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall of 50 to 75 millimeters. Isolated areas may see lighter rain between 5 and 25 millimeters. While rain is widespread, intense heat persists in several northern and eastern states. Temperatures in regions such as Baja California, Sonora, and Nuevo León may reach up to 45°C. The SMN warns that strong wind gusts, lightning, and hail may accompany the storms, potentially causing flooding, landslides, and reduced visibility due to fog. In the Valley of Mexico, the day will begin with fog and a fresh atmosphere before transitioning to afternoon showers.
