A 17-year-old girl was killed and three other students were wounded during a sword attack at Brinell School in Fagersta, Sweden. An 18-year-old former student was arrested for the incident, which occurred shortly after students returned from summer break. Police fired shots during the operation to detain the suspect, who was reportedly wearing a helmet and had a TikTok account that glorified school violence before being taken down. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and opposition leader Magdalena Andersson visited the school on Saturday to honor the victims. Kristersson described the attack as a serious incident and noted that police are working intensively to determine the motive. While investigators initially believed only one person was involved, a second man has been arrested and is suspected of assisting the murder. The school, which has nearly 500 students, was placed under a state of emergency on Friday. This attack follows a series of high-profile school violence incidents in Sweden, including a 2025 mass shooting in Örebro and a 2022 knife and axe attack in Malmö.
