A SEPTA bus became stuck in freshly poured concrete on the 1500 block of South 8th Street in South Philadelphia on Thursday night. The incident occurred just minutes after crews finished repairing potholes that had plagued the block for more than a year. Surveillance video shows passengers getting off the bus and moving the barriers that were blocking off the work zone. The bus then moved forward and drove into the wet cement, causing the wheels to sink in and the bus to become stuck. The bus remained in the concrete for several hours before being towed away. Andrew Busch, the chief officer of media relations for SEPTA, stated that the bus should not have been on that block because a detour was in effect. SEPTA is currently investigating the incident to determine what happened and what can be learned for the future. By Friday morning, crews were back on the block to repair the damage and patch the potholes again. No injuries were reported during the incident.
