President Claudia Sheinbaum prepares public report on the 43 missing Ayotzinapa students to mark the 12th anniversary of their disappearance.

The administration announced that a public report on new investigation lines and detentions regarding the 43 missing students from the Ayotzinapa rural school will be presented before September 26, 2026. President Claudia Sheinbaum ordered the Secretariat of Government to prepare the report, ensuring that no information is revealed that could harm ongoing investigations. During a meeting with the families of the students, the administration announced that the investigation will prioritize four main lines, focusing on analysis of telephone communications and the revision of relevant facts and actors. The Secretariat of Government also committed to accelerating efforts to extradite Ulises Bernab茅, a judge linked to the case who was serving in Iguala in 2014. The families, represented by lawyer Isidoro Vicario, urged the administration to strengthen the indictment of former Guerrero Governor Angel Aguirre Rivero, who was detained in August. The administration also committed to ensure that the families can move freely in Mexico City to participate in the 2026 anniversary events, avoiding the previous concrete blockades that hindered their movement in 2025.
