President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that the federal government will double its original goal of 200,000 to 400,000 new high school spaces to meet growing demand. The administration announced that this expansion will include the construction of new schools, the expansion of saturated schools, and the conversion of secondary schools into evening high schools. Secretary of Higher Education Tania Rodríguez Mora detailed that the investment of over 10 billion pesos will create 156,240 additional places for students. This initiative aims to increase opportunities for young people to continue their studies and eventually enroll in degree programs. The administration also introduced new modalities such as hybrid tutoring and online education to reach rural communities and students who cannot attend campus daily. Secretary of Public Education Mario Delgado noted that current high school coverage is at 80%, but the expansion program is expected to increase this to 90%. The administration also highlighted the success of the Benito Juarez Bursary in reducing student dropout rates.
