Claudia Sheinbaum seeks cooperation with the United States while maintaining Mexican sovereignty

President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that her administration aims to maintain a good relationship with the government of the United States, specifically during the first term of President Trump. Speaking in Monterrey, Nuevo Le贸n, Sheinbaum highlighted that while the two nations have experienced difficult moments and disagreements, the goal is to achieve a bilateral relationship based on cooperation rather than subordination. Sheinbaum emphasized that Mexico remains a sovereign, free, and independent country. She noted that friendship with the United States does not require renouncing national principles. During her second report of government, she recalled historical moments of collaboration between the two countries, such as the periods of Benito Ju谩rez and Abraham Lincoln, and L谩zaro C谩rdenas and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Sheinbaum also acknowledged the significant contribution of Mexican workers to both the national economy and the economy of the United States.
