Tyler Cowen identifies as a prominent economist and faculty director at George Mason University's Mercatus Center.

Tyler Cowen serves as the Holbert L. Harris Professor of Economics at George Mason University and the Faculty Director of the Mercatus Center. He earned his PhD in economics from Harvard University in 1987. Cowen is a recognized figure in the field, having been named one of the most influential economists of the last decade in an Economist poll and dubbed "America's Hottest Economist" by Bloomberg Businessweek. He is also a co-author of the book The Great Stagnation: How America Ate the Low-Hanging Fruit of Modern History, Got Sick, and Will (Eventually) Feel Better, which became a New York Times best-seller. In addition to his academic roles, Cowen co-writes a blog at MarginalRevolution.com, hosts the podcast Conversations with Tyler, and co-founded an online economics education project called MRU.org. He also serves as the director of the philanthropic project Emergent Ventures.
