Ukrainian military intelligence recovered an Nvidia Jetson Orin NX module from a Russian cruise missile wreckage.
Ukrainian military intelligence discovered an Nvidia Jetson Orin NX computer module within the wreckage of a Russian S-71M “Monochrome” cruise missile. The module, produced in March 2025, was found despite Nvidia formally exiting the Russian market in 2022. This discovery highlights potential supply chain leakage and challenges the effectiveness of current sanctions against Russia. The Jetson Orin NX is an AI-focused system-on-module designed for edge computing and machine learning. Ukrainian officials suggest these modules provide missiles with autonomous targeting capabilities, allowing them to be to identify and targets without constant human guidance. The module was identified via the marking SNVUP6.MOP TE980M-A1 and cataloged by the War&Sanctions portal. While Nvidia states the modules are not officially sold in Russia, the presence of as-in-2025-manufactured chip in a 2026 recovery suggests efficient transshipment channels through countries like Turkey and the UAE remain operational.
