Senior administration officials stated that the change would not be a nationwide rollout immediately, as the agency does not currently have the funding or the scale of technology required for a full expansion. For now, the 3-1-1 rule, which limits carry-on liquids to containers of 3.4 ounces or less, remains in effect for all passengers. The agency confirmed it is exploring ways to improve the traveling experience as technology evolves. The TSA PreCheck program, which allows for expedited screening, currently costs up to $85 for a five-year membership. The agency also recently launched the Gateside by TSA program at 13 airports, allowing PreCheck members without tickets to enter secure gate areas.
