Brandon Glasgo Arrested on Arson Charge After Starting Sorrento Valley Brush Fire

San Diego police have arrested 30-year-old Brandon Glasgo on a felony charge of arson of forest land in connection with the Sorrento Fire. The brush fire, which broke out in the Peñasquitos Creek area on Sunday afternoon, scorched approximately 131 acres and forced the evacuation of over 2,000 residents. Firefighters and Cal Fire aircraft worked to contain the blaze, which grew rapidly from Sorrento Valley Boulevard and Vista Sorrento Parkway. While most evacuation warnings were lifted quickly, one mandatory evacuation order remains in effect for zone SDC-1444-A. Court records indicate that Brandon Glasgo has a lengthy criminal record and documented mental health issues. He has previously been arrested for various offenses including petty theft, trespassing, and resisting an officer. Glasgo is currently being held in the San Diego Central Jail with bail set at $75,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
