Elon Musk's SpaceX company successfully recovers its most recently launched Starship rocket from the Indian Ocean

SpaceX has completed its largest salvage operation to date by recovering the Starship rocket from the Indian Ocean. The 170-foot-tall vehicle, known as Ship 40, is currently being transported back to its home base in Texas on a vessel named the Forte. This journey is expected to take several months, with an estimated arrival at the Port of Brownsville by October 8. The rocket launched on July 24 from Starbase, Texas, and survived its space-skimming flight intact while floating. SpaceX engineers will analyze the craft to gain vital data for future missions. The administration announced that the Starship rocket is a key component in NASA's plans to return astronauts to the lunar surface as early as 2028. President Trump endorsed both the moon and Mars destinations during a visit to NASA's Johnson Space Center, where he also signed an executive order to create a U.S. Space Academy to train the next generation of space explorers.
