State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance distributes record $5 billion dividend to millions of qualifying auto insurance customers.
State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance has begun distributing a record $5 billion dividend to its customers, marking the largest payout in the company's 103-year history. The distribution covers more than 49 million auto vehicles nationwide. Jon Farney, State Farm Mutual President and CEO, stated that the dividend is a result of the company's financial strength and strong underwriting performance. Eligible customers who held an active personal auto insurance policy between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, will receive a refund. The average refund is approximately $100 per vehicle, though the exact amount varies by state and ranges from 4% to 10% of the premium paid. Steve Baldwin, a spokesperson for State Farm, noted that the payment process will take several months to complete. Customers with an email address on file will receive instructions via email to choose between digital payments or a paper check, while those without an email address will automatically receive a check by mail.
