Patrick Havas was arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol after he aggressively shoved through a crowd to lunge at Amy Acton during the annual Canfield Fair. Havas, a 38-year-old man from Canfield, was carrying two pistols when he attempted to reach the Democratic politician.

While Acton was not injured, several other people were hurt as Havas knocked over two people using mobility scooters. Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene stated that Havas was holding a cell phone up while moving toward Acton. Havas is currently being held at the county jail and faces two counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of disorderly conduct. Republican rival Vivek Ramaswamy and incumbent Governor Mike DeWine both stated that political violence has no place at public events. Ramaswamy, an ally of President Trump, noted that the incident was completely unacceptable. Acton described herself as a fierce warrior in this fight and expressed gratitude to the first responders for their swift action.
