Representative Haley Stevens urges Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed to distance himself from streamer Hasan Piker to win Michigan's swing state.
Representative Haley Stevens urged Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed to sever ties with controversial streamer Hasan Piker as the Michigan Senate race heats up. The Democratic nominee, who defeated Stevens in the primary, currently trails Republican candidate Mike Rogers by four points according to a new Fox News poll. Stevens argued that El-Sayed should focus on the Michigan electorate and highlighted the Democratic party's plans for healthcare and Black-owned businesses. While she remains a committed Democrat, Stevens noted that El.-Sayed's affiliation with Piker may alienate key demographics, such as Jewish voters who felt betrayed by his primary victory. To secure the victory in the swing state, El-Sayed must perform better with women and suburban voters compared to the former Vice President. The race to succeed retiring Senator Gary Peters is a must-win contest for Democrats to maintain a Republican majority.
