Archer Aviation Inc. Acquires Wisk Aero from Boeing to Strengthen Electric Aircraft Portfolio

Archer Aviation Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu from The Boeing Company. The deal establishes a new partnership where Archer Aviation Inc. will own the three subsidiaries, while The Boeing Company will hold a 16.5% stake in Archer Aviation Inc. following the transaction. This acquisition allows Archer Aviation Inc. to expand its autonomous flight technology and defense portfolio, while The Boeing Company streamlines its operations to focus on core businesses under the leadership of CEO Kelly Ortberg. Archer Aviation Inc. CEO Adam Goldstein stated that the move is a significant step toward becoming a diversified platform with a growing revenue base. The deal follows a 2021 lawsuit where Wisk Aero allegedly stole trade secrets from Archer Aviation Inc. The transaction provides Archer Aviation Inc. with immediate defense revenue and six generations of eVTOL aircraft designs. For The Boeing Company, the deal represents a strategic divestiture of non-core assets while maintaining a significant equity interest in the technology that will support future commercial aircraft.
