Sarah Lindsey Santiago Indicted for Aiding and Abetting the Islamic Center of San Diego Mosque Shooting

A 17-year-old girl from North Carolina was indicted on three counts of murder by aiding and abetting and one count of conspiracy following the May 18 attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego. Sarah Lindsey Santiago is accused of recording and distributing the livestream of the shooting, as well as releasing the manifesto authored by the two teenage gunmen. The indictment alleges that Santiago also purchased a patch with a Nazi symbol and sent it to one of the shooters to wear during the attack. The attack was carried out by two teenage gunmen who killed three men: Amin Abdullah, Mansour Kaziha, and Nadir Awad. During the shooting, Abdullah engaged the gunmen in a gunbattle and initiated a lockdown that protected approximately 140 children. The gunmen, who were influenced by white supremacist ideologies, also planned to attack a nearby Jewish synagogue and a local high school. Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O'Neill stated that under North Carolina law, a person can be held criminally responsible for a crime even if they did not personally perform the acts. Santiago's defense attorney, Alan Doorasamy Sr., stated that his client is innocent of all charges. San Diego police are investigating the killings as a hate crime.
