President Abelardo De La Espriella delivered a consolidated report on the humanitarian tragedy caused by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10. The disaster has resulted in 321 deaths, over 4,590 injuries, and 257 people remain missing. The national disaster risk management unit reported that 15 departments and 476 municipalities were affected, impacting 146,188 families and 284,185 people. Infrastructure damage is extensive, with 163,884 homes damaged, 31,445 homes destroyed, and 467 buildings collapsed. The earthquake also impacted 351 health centers, 3,579 schools, and 435 roads. International support is arriving, with Brazil sending 19 tons of rice and the United States providing C-130 aircraft to transport supplies. Local authorities in Cali and Pereira are coordinating relief efforts, and the city of Cali will hold a 'Day of the Candles' to honor the victims.
