Jon Griffin provides aerial perspective of the Spokane Complex fires' destruction across Washington state.

Jon Griffin, a flight instructor for Northwest Flight Service, provided a bird's-eye view of the aftermath of the Spokane Complex fires. The blazes, which swept through Spokane County and surrounding areas, destroyed or damaged 833 structures, forcing more than 65,000 people to evacuate. High winds and dry conditions fueled the fires, which included the Old Trails, Autumn Lane, and Fairview fires. While the Old Trails fire caused the most significant damage, the Autumn Lane fire crossed the Spokane River to burn 5,700 acres of Riverside State Park. The Fairview fire impacted the rural prairie lands to the east. To assist residents, the state has allocated $2.5 million in emergency funding. This includes $1.5 million for Household Needs Grants, which provide financial aid for temporary housing, food, and personal expenses for those whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the flames.
