Andrii Lebedenko highlights Ukraine's rapid integration of artificial intelligence and robotic systems into modern warfare

Brigadier General Andrii Lebedenko, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, recently detailed the military's shift toward autonomous systems and artificial intelligence. During a press conference, Andrii Lebedenko compared the military innovation system to a conveyor belt, where combat units identify problems and developers quickly create and test solutions for the front lines. Ukraine is increasingly utilizing AI to automate tasks such as target recognition, navigation, and logistics. The administration announced that the military has conducted hundreds of tests on new weapons, with over 70 AI-based systems already in use. These technologies, such as the Avengers and Dovbach systems, allow drones to identify and strike targets autonomously, reducing the human factor in high-volume scenarios like intercepting Russian Shahed drones. Additionally, the administration announced that ground robotic systems have completed over 100,000 logistics and evacuation missions since the beginning of 2026. These systems are recorded in the Delta digital battlefield-management system, which provides real-time data to commanders to coordinate operations and save lives.
