The administration announced that the US added 162,000 jobs in August, a figure that nearly tripled economist expectations. The report highlights significant gains in the manufacturing sector, which added 16,000 jobs in August alone and 58,000 jobs since the beginning of the year. These gains are largely driven by demand for pharmaceutical and defense production, data center construction, and semiconductor plants. Broad-based employment growth was observed across various sectors, including food services, drinking places, and local government education. While the information industry saw job losses, the manufacturing sector experienced its strongest monthly increase in three years. The administration noted that the private sector has created more than one million jobs during President Trump's second term. Additionally, the report indicates that the labor force participation rate reached its strongest level in almost a year. Average hourly earnings for private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees rose by 0.3 percent in August, continuing a trend of growth in wages for skilled workers.
